Today is my mother-in-laws birthday so I thought it would be the perfect occasion to make some homemade pies to celebrate! The first pie I made with my mom was a Nutter Butter pie. If you're a peanut butter lover, you need this pie in your life... this pie is basically Nutter Butters, butter, peanut butter, and whipped cream. I don't think a pie can get much better. However, if you're like my husband and HATE peanut butter, I would recommend trying a different pie recipe, like the strawberry pie we also made (Recipe HERE).
So, to start making this pie, you crush Nutter Butters in a plastic baggie or in a food processor. You can crush them fine for a thinner pie crust or you can leave some bigger pieces, like we did, for a thicker, crunchier pie crust. Once you have your cookies crushed, you melt 6 tablespoons of butter and combine in a bowl before moving to a pie pan and making your crust form. Bake the pie crust at 350 degree for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
For the filling, you mix together a block of cream cheese, marshmallow fluff, cool whip, and peanut butter. This should combine into a nice peanut butter fluff. You'll be tempted to stop and just eat this... but don't. It gets better, MUCH better. To the peanut butter fluff, add in some crumbled Nutter Butter pieces.
Once the pie curst is golden and you've removed it from the oven, allow it to cool. When it cools, know all of your dreams are about to come true. Pour the peanut butter cookie fluff mixture into the crust. Even it out on all sides of the crust.
THEN, add a layer of Cool Whip.
To finish your pie off you have a few options:
1. Grab a fork and dig in.
2. Garnish with crumbled cookies.
3. Garnish with drizzled warm peanut butter
4. All of the above.
We chose all the above.
I hope you enjoy this pie as much as my family and I did. You can find the full recipe HERE.
*Note - We substituted the heavy whipping cream in the filling section and the toppings section (along with powdered sugar) with Cool Whip.
